My Chaos Knights will get the typical wasteland base (Agrellan Earth / Agrellan Badlands, Agrax Earthshade, Karak Stone, some Wasteland Tufts). For a bit of a twist, I'll probably add a few slain Space Marines to the bases and stick the Pterroshades to the corpses. I still have a ton of stuff from Indomitus that I'll never get to paint, anyway.
For female or younger faces, you want to be more subtle and layer the base colour all over the face, just leaving a few key places in the darker colour created by the wash, for example inside the ears, below the eye brows, and where the skin meets other parts of the model. 5. It’ll probably take 2-3 coats. You can then take thinned black (I use P3 Thamar Black, but GW’s Abaddon Black will do) and lightly paint the lines where you want the hazard stripes to be. Fill them in with black, clean them up if need be, and do a recess shade of Seraphim Sepia on the yellow.
