"The Canon 70-300 L is officially NOT compatible with Canon extenders. This is the only Canon L zoom lens with a widest focal length of 70mm or longer that is not compatible with Canon extenders (as of review time). I've tried mounting Canon extenders to the 70-300 L - and they do not fit. The rear 70-300 L lens element physically hits the

Yes, but you're asking the wrong question. The Canon EOS EF 2x III will work with the Canon 90D, because it has an EF mount. Except, as others have pointed out, teleconverters are designed to only work with specific lenses. Someone posted a link to the "Supplemtary Information" User Guide for the 90D. January/2015 - The EF Extender 2X III is a teleconverter that mounts between you camera and your EF compatible lens to effectively multiply its focal length by two. It does that simply enlarging 25% of the middle of your frame, discarding most of the light; thus reducing two stops of exposure (a f/2.8 becomes a f/5.6).
I was using them with the 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM MkII and the 100-400 IS USM MkII zooms and found that the 2.0 extender degraded the results unacceptably - I was using them with Cano 5D IV, DsR, 7DII and 90D bodies. While I have had no issues using the same lenses on the R5 and R6 bodies I have, I have not considered using them with extenders.
